Vasas’s stunning start downs Eger

Only one game was scheduled for Day 2 of the third stage of the Hungarian Cup, which has been playing on Margaret Island in Budapest.

Vasas defeated Eger 16:10 and climbed into the first place of the group for the trophy (1st-8th place) before the last two rounds.

Vasas – Eger 16:10 (5:1, 5:4, 5:1, 1:4)

Vasas had a stunning start. Less than five minutes of the game passed, and Vasas already had a 5:0 advantage. The Budapest-based team controlled everything in the pool, so Eger wasn’t able to come back. Vasas even had a nine-goal lead (15:9), but it slowed down in the last eight minutes.

Serbia’s defender Sava Randjelovic was Vasas’s best scorer today, with four goals.

Vasas kept its unbeaten run, as well as Syzolnok, Ferencvaros and OSC.

Played on August 6th: Szolnok – Miskolc 17:12, OSC – Honved 14:9, Ferencvaros – BVSC 15:10.

The competition in Group II (9th – 16th place) will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

Standings based on the results of the 2nd stage: 1. PVSK 3 (+6), 2. Szeged 3 (+4), 3. UVSE 3 (+4), 4. Szentes 3 (+3), 5. KSI 0 (-3), 6. Kaposvar 0 (-4), 7. Debrecen 0 (-4), 8. Tatabanya 0 (-6).

Fourth stage (August 12 – 13)

The Cup will be finished in Budapest in the middle of August. The fourth stage is a knock-out round.

Semifinals 1st -4th place: I.1 – I.4 and I.2 – I.3.
Semifinals 5th – 8th place: I.5 – I.8 and I.6 – I.7.
Semifinals 9th – 12th place: II.1 – II.4 and II. 3 – II.4
Semifinals 13th – 16th place: II.5 – II.8 and II.6 – II.7
