Curtain comes down on water polo tournament at World Masters Championships

After 106 games, that were played in two pools, the water polo tournament at the FINA World Masters Championships in Gwangju has been completed today.

The last matches in the men’s groups 45+, 60+ and 65+/70+ were played at the Nambu University Grounds today.

In the men’s category 45+, Spandau (Germany) and AMPA ECP (Brazil) shared the points (8:8). A point was enough for the Germans to take the 2nd place, behind Dubrovacki Veterani (Croatia), which secured the gold medal on Saturday.

Santa Barbara S. Surfers (USA) defeated SV Canstatt (Germany) in the final of the 60+ category (6:3). The bronze medal was won by Pampas (Argentina).

Dusseldorfer (Germany) clinched the gold medal in the group 65+/70+. The German team was in a neck-and-neck race with KVP H2Opolo Piestany (Slovakia). Both teams completed the tournament with 16 points each, but Dusseldorfer won the gold thanks to a better goal difference.
