After a solid performance in the Euro Cup Round 1 (2nd place in Thessaloniki), ZV De Zaan proved it prepared well for Round 2 and the tournament in Strasbourg this week. ZV De Zaan defeated Polar Bears, the runner-up in the previous season, convincingly (14:5). Few could expect this outcome after Polar Bears’ victory over title holder Het Ravijn (11:10) a week before. Thomas Lucas led the winning team, with five goals.

The latest results indicate that Het Ravijn isn’t in good shape. It suffered its second consecutive loss. The reigning champion hosted ZVL-1886 Center. Het Ravijn earned a slim 5:4 advantage in the first 16 minutes. But ZVL made a turn in the third quarter and entered the final period with an 8:7 lead. Luka Jovanovic was the only one who found the net in the last eight minutes. He added the third goal to his tally and solved all dilemmas about the winner – 9:7.

A very exciting game was played in Amersfoort, where ZPC hosted its neighbor from Utrecht – UZSC. The visitors were two steps ahead of ZPC at halftime (6:4), but Amersfoort netted three straight goals in the third period for a 7:6 lead. The home side doubled its advantage (9:7 and 10:8), and had an 11:10 lead at the finish. Still, UZSC took a point. Willemsen closed the match with a goal for 11:11.

AZC stunned GZC Donk. AZC stormed to a 5:0 lead. However, the home team from Gouda managed to come back and reduced the gap to one goal (5:6) with two minutes to go. Still, AZC had the last laugh, as Kombrink scored the last goal in the match, and AZC recorded a 7:5 victory.

ZPB H&L Productions and De Ham earned away wins, defeating PSV and De Linge/PSG, respectively.
