The draw for the European Qualifications of the 2022 World League was held at FINA headquarters in Lausanne today.
Twelve male and six female teams will take part in the European preliminaries. The qualifications will start in January.
Men
The male teams are split into four groups of three. Montenegro, the 2021 World League winner, will be in a group with European champion Hungary. Olympic champion Serbia will play against World champion Italy, etc.
There will be three rounds in each group (January 18th, February 15th and March 5th). Each team will play one home and one away game. After the group stage, the top two teams from each group will advance to the second round.
According to the rules, the best four teams from the European qualifications will play at the World League Final Eight.

Women
As for women, six teams are split into two groups. Like in men’s competitions, the four European teams will play at the Super Final.
All six teams will advance to the second round of the European qualifications.
