The club season is swiftly approaching, and just two days following the conclusion of the Paris Olympic Games, the draws for Europe’s premier competitions have been announced.
This afternoon, at the venue of the U19 Women’s European Championship in Zagreb, the draws for the men’s and women’s Champions League were determined.
Men’s Champions League
Twelve teams have automatically advanced to the group stage of the Champions League.
Defending Champions League victors FTC-Telekom are accompanied by nine national champions: Olympiacos (Greece), Barceloneta (Spain), Jadran Split (Croatia), Novi Beograd (Serbia), Marseille (France), Primorac Kotor (Montenegro), Waspo Hannover (Germany), Dinamo Tbilisi (Georgia), and Steaua Bucharest (Romania). Italian runners-up from the previous season, RN Savona, replace the absent Pro Recco, while Vasas secures a spot in the group stage—with FTC-Telekom’s victory as champions opening a position for Hungary’s next highest-ranked team from the 2023-24 season.
Eighteen other teams will compete for just four spots in the main round of the Champions League, with only the group winners advancing—this draw has also been concluded.
