The women’s tournament at the 2024 European Championships will take place in Eindhoven, LEN have announced.
The women’s competition, previously held in the city in 2012, will take place from 5 to 13 January 2024 in the Pieter van den Hoogenband Swimming Stadium in Eindhoven.
After weeks of speculation and uncertainty, the new tournament venues have finally been confirmed. The relocation of both events away from Netanya, in Israel, is due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza.

Returning to Eindhoven after twelve years
The 2012 European Championships, held at the Pieter van den Hoogenband pool, was the first European Championship to be held in winter, i.e. in January (16 – 29 January). This is the result of the earlier decision by LEN to hold the European Championships in the Olympic year at the beginning of the year or six months before the Games to relieve the busy competition calendar.
Italy won their fifth title by defeating Greece 13-10 in the final. Hungary captured the bronze medal after a 9-8 win over Russia. The Setterosa’s team featured some of the best players of the 21st century, including Tania Di Mario, Elisa Casanova, Roberta Bianconi and Alessandra Cotti.
Rita Keszthelyi was the top-goal scorer of the 2012 championship, and is still going strong twelve years later.
