There were several close contests in the 10th round of the Italian League. But, the derby games lacked excitement. Pro Recco easily beat Ortigia. Savona ran over Trieste in the encounter between the LEN Euro Cup clubs.
Italy, Round 10
Pro Recco’s defense was perfect in the opening minutes of the game in Syracuse and the visitors earned a 3:0 lead. Ortigia, which got on the scoreboard in the 7th minute, cut the deficit to one twice in the second quarter (2:3, 3:4). Recco responded with a new 3:0 run (Francesco Condemi, who played for Ortigia until this summer, scored two of these three goals) and jumped to 7:3. The hosts’ Carnessechi made it 4:7 at the finish of the first half. Recco’s centers, Aicardi and Hallock, opened the third period with goals for 9:4; from then on, the difference was never smaller than four goals. Recco beat the Sicilians 12:7 with three goals from Giacomo Cannella two from Francesco Condemi and Ben Hallock…
Savona keeps 2nd place behind Pro Recco and proves it is in good shape. It welcomed Trieste. After a 10:3 first half, it was clear which team would win. After 32 minutes, 11 goals separated the rivals – 17:6.
Brescia recorded an easy win over Astra Roma Nuoto (19:4).
Fourth-placed Telimar struggled to beat Camogli, which hasn’t won a point yet. Early in the third quarter, Telimar led 6:4. Camogli, the visiting team in this match, netted three unanswered goals by the last break and entered the final period with a 7:6 advantage. Telimar retook control in the fourth quarter and made a 3:0 run for a 9:7 lead. Camogli reduced the gap to one in the dying seconds.
Posillipo beat Catania 11:10 thanks to a good finish. The matches Salerno – Roma Vis Nova and De Akker – Quinto ended with no winner.

Greece, Round 13
One round is left until the end of the first phase of the Greek League. After the 14th round, the teams will be split into new groups – for 1st – 8th places and for 9th – 16th places.
So far, six teams have secured their spots in the higher league. Olympiacos is a leader in Group A, with 13 wins in as many games. Apollon and Peristeri also qualified for the top group, while Panathinaikos and Glyfada are eyeing the fourth place. Panathinaikos has one point more than Glyfada and it’s almost certain that it will remain in 4th place because Glyfada plays against Olympiacos on Day 14.
As for Group B, Vouliagmeni, Panionios and PAOK advanced to the higher group. Palaio Faliro or Ydraikos will join them.
