Most European clubs started their winter breaks, but there were matches in the national league this weekend.
The Spanish clubs ended the first half of the season. At the same time, the 13th league round was played in Italy.
Italy, Round 12
All favorites collected the points in the 13th round of the Italian League. Some of them secured wins in exciting finishes.
Ortigia beat Roma Vis Nova 9:8 in the first match of the round, played earlier this week. Francesco Cassia contributed to the win with five goals, but Filipo Ferrero scored a crucial goal. He scored the winner a minute and a half before the end
Pro Recco was too strong for Telimar. The European champion had an 11:2 advantage at the middle break of the match in Palermo. Recco slowed down in the third period, but it reached a double-digit margin until the end (15:5). Francesco Di Fulvio was the top scorer with four goals.
Brescia beat Quinto 16:10, Savona blew Camogli away (22:4), Trieste beat Posillipo 14:7. Catania and Astra Nuoto Roma shared the points (14:14).
The 13th round is scheduled for next week.

Spain, Day 12
Reigning champion Barceloneta taught a lesson to Real Canoe in its last match in 2023. Bernat Sanahuja led the best Spanish club to a 27:4 victory, scoring five goals. Sabadell showed no mercy to Tenerife – 17:3.
An encounter between two former European champions was more exciting than expected. Tenth-placed Catalunya welcomed Barcelona, which was in 5th place in the standings before the 12th round. Barcelona rushed to a 3:0 lead. However, Catalunya managed to catch up with the favorite and level the score several times. Four minutes before the end, the sides were tied at 10:10. Then, Barcelona scored two goals for a 12:10 advantage. Catalunya halved the distance (11:12). Still, Barcelona’s Prat netted an action goal for 13:11 with 50 seconds left on the clock to secure three points for the visitors.
Barcelona jumped to 4th place after this win because Mediterrani suffered a quite surprising loss to Rubi (8:9), and it is two points behind Barcelona now.
Only one point separates Barcelona and 3rd-placed Terrassa, which returned home empty-handed after an away match against Sant Andreu (12:15), played earlier.
