The competition in a “lower house” at the 36th European Men’s Championships finished this evening, with the matches for 9th and 11th place in the “Gruz” pool in Dubrovnik.
France won 9th place, beating Georgia 12:6
The Netherlands defeated Germany 16:10 in the 11th-place match.

9th-place match
France – Georgia 12:6 (2:1, 3:1, 3:3, 3:1)

Both teams achieved worse results than in the 35th European Championships in Split in 2022, when France was in 6th place and Georgia in 8th place.
Today, Georgia managed to level the score just once in the early phase of the match (1:1). In the middle of the second period, the Georgians trailed by a goal (2:3). Still, they couldn’t keep with the French for long. France scored four unanswered goals between the 13th and 18th minutes and jumped to 7:2. Georgia narrowed the gap to three at the finish of the third period. However, France dominated the final quarter.

The Netherlands finished in 11th place, like in Split fifteen months ago. The Germans improved their performance by one step compared to the previous championships.
The Dutch were in the lead throughout today’s match. They had a 2:0 and 4:1 lead. Kuppers scored for Germany to make it 2:4. However, the Dutch quickly responded with a goal from Lars ten Broek, bringing the score to 4:2. The Netherlands continued to dominate in the second period, scoring two more goals and securing a big 7:2 advantage in just 10 minutes. Although Germany managed to reduce the gap to three a few times in the following 22 minutes, the Dutch maintained their lead and were never in danger of losing it.
Final standings: 9. France, 10. Georgia, 11. Netherlands, 12. Germany, 13. Slovakia, 14. Slovenia, 15. Malta, 16. Israel.
Day 13 (Zagreb, January 16)
7th-place match: Serbia – Romania (15:00)
Bronze-medal match: Italy – Hungary (16:30)
5th-place match: Greece – Montenegro (18:30).
Final: Spain – Croatia (20:15)
