Spain’s head coach, David Martin,Β selected 19 players for preparations for the World Championships in Doha (February 4 β 17).
The list includes 14 out of 15 players who won the gold medal at the European Championships. Only Alberto Barroso is missing. He played in the group stage in Dubrovnik and was not on the rosters in the knockout matches in Zagreb.
Martin Famera, who could not compete for a spot in the European Championships squad due to injury, returns. Besides the 14 European champions and Famera, Oscar Asensio, Fran Valera (both Sabadell), Jose Maria Motos (Terrassa), and Marc Valls (Barcelona) have been included in the squad, which will start to prepare in Barcelona on Monday evening.

Spain was drawn into Group A of the World Championships in Doha. On Day 1, the European champions will face South Africa. A rematch of the final in Zagreb, Spain – Croatia, is scheduled on Day 2. In the last round of the group stage, the Spaniards will play against Australia.
