World champion Hungary beat France 14:10 in its only home preparation match ahead of the World Championships in Doha.
The game took place in Budapest. Eight players who won gold in Fukuoka and missed the European Championships in Zagreb were on the team: Denes Varga, Szilard Jansik, Soma Vogel, Daniel Angyal, Krisztian Manhercz, Marton Vamos, Gergo Zalanki and Toni Nemet. Besides them, five players who participated in the European Championships were among the 13 picked by Zsolt Varga for this game. Varga called up 22 players to the preparations in Budapest.
The match was an even contest in the first three periods. The teams were tied five times, but France never took the lead. At the first break, the Hungarians had a 2:1 advantage and doubled it in the second period (4:2). However, France was able to come back. The visitors netted six goals in the third period, and the score was 8:8 before the final quarter. But the hosts dominated in the fourth period and recorded a 14:10 win.
Szilard Jansik scored five goals for Hungary, while Thomas Vernoux netted four for France.

The joint preparations of the Hungarians and the French, which lasted for a few days, ended with this friendly match.
Tomorrow, Hungary travels to Barcelona, where it will train with a freshly crowned European champion, Spain.
France will come to Kragujevac to prepare with the Serbia national team.
