Italian male water polo will be represented at the World Championships in Doha by almost the same team that won bronze at the European Championships in Zagreb.
Head coach Alessandro Campagna, who had 24 players at the this week’s preparations, decided on the World Championships roster today. He made only one change compared to the European Championships.
Pro Recco’s Matteo Iocchi Gratta (21) replaced Vincenzo Dolce (Brescia). Iocchi Gratta, the best scorer of the 2021 World U20 Championships, has already played for Italy at two big competitions – the 2022 European Championships and the World Championships in Doha.

Italy will train with Croatia and Greece in Dubai between January 30 and February 2 in the final phase of the preparations for the Doha tourament, which starts on February 5.
The „Settebello“ will play in Group D in the first stage of the World Championships against Hungary, Romania and Kazakhstan. Italy is one of the teams that hasn’t qualified for the Olympic Games yet. Four Olympic berths will be available in Doha.
