Get ready for the exhilarating return of the Next Generation Cup, one of Europe’s most prestigious youth water polo tournaments, back for its highly anticipated second edition in 2024. From September 20th to September 22nd, prepare to witness the finest under-19 talent from across the globe converge at the esteemed 50-meter indoor pool of Club Natació Sabadell in Spain, hosted by one of LEN’s leading water polo clubs.
This event promises to be a thrilling showcase of skill and talent as it brings together the best youth men’s and women’s teams, offering rising stars a coveted platform to shine on the international stage.
Last year’s inaugural edition
In September 2023, the tournament debuted with great success, featuring 10 men’s teams including renowned clubs like CN Atlètic-Barceloneta, FTC- Telekom, CN Marseille, CN Barcelona, and BVSC-Zuglo, alongside 6 women’s teams highlighted by host CN Sabadell and KNZB.
Once again, all matches will be broadcast live, with post-match interviews and real-time scoring stats provided by Total Waterpolo.
A Champions League venue
The Next Generation Cup returns to the prestigious CN Sabadell, a powerhouse in European aquatic sports. Matches will take place in the club’s indoor Olympic pool, divided into two parts to accommodate simultaneous games. Over the three days, all teams will compete in an equitable number of matches, commencing on Friday around noon and concluding on Sunday evening.
With expansive stands and a top-tier atmosphere, the tournament provides the ultimate stage for the stars of tomorrow to showcase their potential against high-level teams predominantly from Europe, with representation also from continents like Africa and America.
Confirmed teams
This year’s edition has confirmed participation from leading men’s teams such as CN Marseille, Brunswick, the Great Britain National Team, and premier Spanish clubs CN Atlètic-Barceloneta, CN Barcelona, and CN Sabadell, in addition to Sabac from Serbia, Potsdam from Germany, and WP Elevate from South Africa.
For the women’s competition, entries include national teams from Portugal and Great Britain, along with Bogliasco from Italy, ASC Sirens from Malta, WP Elevate from South Africa, and the event hosts, CN Sabadell.
