Top Lithuanian club EVK Zaibas is closing in on bringing two-time World Champion and former Croatian national team captain Ivan Krapic to the Baltic state for the 2024-25 season.
This would be a significant coup for the club, whose current coach is Blagoje Ivovic—brother of Aleksandar—to sign a player with the pedigree of Krapic, who won an Olympic silver medal in Rio in 2016.
Krapic, now 35, spent his early years with his boyhood club, Rijeka, before moving to the Dalmatian coast to join Jadran Split. Since 2020, Krapic has played in France with Noisy le Sec (Cercle 93).
Zaibas is the reigning champion of Lithuania and has won the league five times in its history. They are a well-connected club in the water polo world, as demonstrated by last year's signing of Serbian star Marko Radulovic on loan.
This season, the club reached the semi-finals of the Challenger Cup, and as recently as last year, regularly entered the qualifying stages of the LEN Champions League. They are one of the favorites to win this season's Nordic League.
