CSM Oradea has officially announced the appointment of Petar Kovacevic as the new head coach for the upcoming 2024-25 season.
The 47-year-old Montenegrin coach brings a wealth of international experience to the Romanian side, which is chasing Champions League qualification.
Kovacevic had his playing career cut short due to a shoulder injury, but he swiftly moved into the world of coaching, where he has amassed considerable experience. He joins the Romanians from EN Tourcoing. Prior to Tourcoing, Kovacevic coached in Serbia with Nis and Becej, in France with Marseille, in Turkey with Galatasaray, as well as the Serbian women's national team and the French men's national team.
In addition to his responsibilities with the senior team, Kovacevic will also oversee the development of CSM Oradea’s youth water polo program. His extensive experience working with young athletes aligns with the club’s ongoing commitment to nurturing local talent and ensuring a smooth transition for players moving from junior to senior levels.
CSM Oradea hasn't only signed a new coach; they have also been active in upgrading their roster.
It appears that Silvian Colodrovschi, 23, will also leave Tourcoing, and follow Kovacevic to Oradea. Another centre-forward, nineteen-year-old Richard Orsos is returning to Romania from Vasas, while Russian attacker Ivan Gusarov heads to Romania from Chania in Greece.
