Amid the ongoing crisis at Pro Recco, the club faces its first major transfer blow with Konstantinos Kakaris set to return to Jug Dubrovnik.
The 25-year-old centre-forward, widely regarded as the best in Europe, is poised to rejoin the club where he previously played for two seasons from 2021 to 2023.
The finacial uncertainty at Recco is the catalyst for the transfer.
During his tenure at Jug Dubrovnik, Kakaris achieved significant success, winning the 2023 Regional League and clinching the Croatian Championship, Cup, and Supercup. His earlier development at Olympiacos also saw him secure numerous national titles.
On the international stage, Kakaris has been a formidable presence for the Greek national team, earning a silver medal at the 2023 World Championships and a bronze in 2022. He is also set to represent Greece at the Paris Olympic Games.
Kakaris is expected to be the first of many departures from Recco over the coming weeks.Â
