 Maddie Musselman Woepse stands as the only water polo player to have won the prestigious Total Player Award twice in a row, in 2022 and 2023. This season brought Maddie some of the most challenging moments of her life as she supported her husband, Patrick, through his battle with a severe illness. Despite his presence cheering her on at the Olympic Games in Paris, Patrick unfortunately lost his fight.
Amid this deeply difficult period, Maddie displayed incredible strength, adding a fifth World Championship gold to her already remarkable collection of achievements. She continues to inspire young girls around the world to pursue our beautiful sport, and we are certain Patrick is immensely proud.
