Fran Fernandez has been appointed as the head coach of Barceloneta, the club announced today.
He steps into the role after spending two seasons as a youth coach and assistant to Elvis Fatovic, who recently departed for Olympiacos.
Francicso Fernandez Miranda was born in 1993. He played for Barceloneta on two occasions (2004–2009 and 2010–2023), winning 65 trophies with the club, including the 2014 Champions League. After the 2023 Final Eight in Belgrade, where Barceloneta won bronze, he retired and began working as a coach.
Representing Spain, Fernandez won three silver medals at major tournaments: the 2019 World Championships, the 2018 European Championships, and the 2020 European Championships. He also competed in the Olympic Games twice, in 2016 and 2021.
