Two European powerhouses, Ferencvaros and Pro Recco, kicked off their promotional tour in the USA with matches against college teams, UCLA and Princeton, at the Asphalt Green Aquatics Program in New York.
Pro Recco, the organizer of the tour, played against the UCLA Bruins, while Ferencvaros met the Princeton Tigers. Both European teams recorded wins in their first matches in the 2025/26 season.
In the opening game of the tour, Pro Recco defeated the UCLA Bruins 16:11. Matteo Iocchi Gratta scored five goals for the 11-time European champion. Alvaro Granados made his debut for Recco with four goals. The other three foreign newcomers, Rino Buric, Luke Pavillard, and Max Irving, as well as Lukas Durik, each added one goal. Captain Francesco Di Fulvio also made contributions with three goals.
Ferencvaros achieved a convincing 23:11 victory against Princeton. The reigning Champions League winners led 11:4 at halftime and maintained their advantage during the third period, so they entered the final quarter with a 14:7 advantage.. In the fourth period, Ferencvaros extended its lead to 12 goals. Gergo Fekete was the top scorer for the Budapest-based team with four goals. Nagy, De Toro, Jansik, Argyropoulos, and Vismeg each scored three goals. Manhercz added two goals, while Di Somma and Vince Varga each contributed one goal. New goalkeeper, Marton Levai, who came from Vasas a few months ago, debuted for “Fradi” in this game.
In a highlight of the first part of the tour, Pro Recco and Ferencvaros will face each other on Thursday evening (local time). They will wrap up their tour over the weekend with games at Princeton University.
