Ferencvaros and Pro Recco continued their American tour with the games against college teams at Princeton University.
The two European giants recorded almost identical wins. Ferencvaros defeated Fordham University 19:7, and Pro Recco beat the hosts, Princeton University, 19:9.
Ferencvaros played without Dusan Mandic and Edoardo Di Somma against Fordham, the semifinalist of last season’s NCAA Championships. Younger players were given the opportunity to prove themselves. The European champion started the match with a 6:0 run, allowing Fordham to score its first goal only in the 14th minute. The third quarter was balanced (4:4). Ferencvaros dominated in the remaining 24 minutes to achieve a 19:7 (3:0, 5:1, 4:4, 7:2) win. Akos Nagy led the attack with four goals. The other scorers were: Varga 3, Lugosi 3, Fekete 3, Vismeg 2, Agryropoulos 1, Jansik 1, and Molnar 1.
Matteo Iocchi Gratta was the best scorer in Pro Recco’s 19:9 victory over Princeton, the quarterfinalist of the 2024 NCAA Championships. Granados and Irving scored three each, Condemi, Mladossich, and Demarchi two, while Pavillard, Fondelli, and Buric each contributed one goal.
The tour ends on Sunday, with a clash between Ferencvaros and Pro Recco at Princeton University. Their first duel during the tour, played in New York, ended in a draw, and Ferencvaros achieved a penalty shootout win.
