The highlight of the mid-week fourth round of the Italian League was an encounter in Naples, where Posillipo hosted Trieste. The home team recorded a 13:11 victory.
The match in Naples was the third for Trieste in seven days. The visitors ran out of energy. In addition, in the second quarter, they lost one of their best players, Montenegrin Vuk Draskovic, due to three personal fouls. After a 2:2 first period, Draskovic gave Trieste a 3:2 lead in the 11th minute. However, after that, the hosts took the stage. By the end of the first half, Posillipo, led by Draskovic’s fellow countryman, Danilo Radovic, went on a 7:2 run and headed into the second half with a 9:5 advantage. Early in the fourth period, Posillipo had a 13:7 lead. Trieste reduced the gap with four late goals. Danilo Radovic was the top scorer with four goals (all four in the second quarter), and Vincenzo Renzuto Iodice added three in Posillipo’s win. Vuk Draskovic scored three goals for Trieste.
Unlike Trieste, Pro Recco had a successful visit to Naples, securing a comfortable 23:7 victory over Canottieri. Francesco Condemi led the team with five goals, while Max Irving added four. The winning team played without Francesco Di Fulvio.
Savona triumphed over Roma Vis Nova 23:12, with four goals each from Luca Damonte and Pietro Figlioli.
Brescia continued its winning streak alongside Pro Recco and Savona, achieving an away victory against Iren Genova Quinto. After three quarters, Brescia held an 11:3 lead. Although Quinto dominated the final period, they could not threaten Brescia’s victory, and the match concluded with a 14-10 win for Brescia. Ferrero scored three goals for Brescia, while Gogov netted three for the home side.
Telimar defeated Salerno 17:16 in a shootout at home. The hosts’ goalkeeper, Francesco Massaro, played a crucial role in securing the victory, saving two shots during the shootout.
De Akker grabbed its first points in the season with a penalty shootout victory over Ortigia.
