Aleksandar Ivovic has been appointed as the new sports director of Jadran Herceg Novi, the club announced after its regular Assembly meeting.
Ivovic had an outstanding 23-year career at the senior level, playing for only three clubs. He started and ended his career at Jadran. Ivovic played for Jadran until 2010, when he moved to Pro Recco. Ivovic was Recco’s player (and the captain for a while) between 2010 and 2024, with a short one-year spell in Jug Dubrovnik (the season 2012/23). Last year, he returned to Jadran and retired from playing water polo after winning the Montenegrin Championships with the Herceg Novi-based team.
Playing for the national teams, Ivovic won 15 medals at major senior and junior competitions (three with the team of Serbia and Montenegro and 12 representing Montenegro). From 2006 to 2021, he was one of the leaders of the Montenegrin senior national team, and some of the mentioned 12 medals are four at the European Championships (including gold in 2008), one at the World Championships (silver in 2013), and six in the World League (including three golds).
He won a total of 18 national championships with Jadran, Pro Recco, and Jug. Besides, he lifted five Champions League trophies with the Italian club, led Jug to the Champions League final in 2013, and triumphed in the Regional League twice (with Jadran and Pro Recco).
From now on, he will help Jadran achieve the club’s goals in a new role.
