The top three Italian clubs βPro Recco, Brescia, and Savona βextended their winning streaks with convincing victories in the 5th round of Serie A1.
Pro Recco showed no mercy to Posillipo. Alvaro Granados was the best scorer in a 22:8 win, with five goals.
Brescia recorded a 14-goal home victory like Pro Recco. It defeated Florentia 21:7. Mario Del Basso netted four goals.
Savona visited the Italian capital and beat Olympic Roma 22:11. Pietro Figlioli and Oliver Leinweber scored almost half of the goals for the visiting team. Veteran Figlioli found the net five times, while young Hungarian Leinweber added four goals.
After losing to Posillipo earlier this week, Trieste bounced back with a convincing home 22:13 victory over Telimar. The Sicilians kept up with Trieste for nine minutes. Early in the second quarter, Trieste led 6:5. Over the next several minutes, the hosts scored four goals in a row and jumped to 10:5. The visitors reduced the gap to four goals on a few occasions, but Trieste didn’t let them come any closer. In the fourth period, Trieste widened the gap to nine goals. Pietro Faraglia scored five goals, while Vuk Draskovic added four, helping Trieste reclaim 4th place and surpass Telimar in the standings.
Roma Vis Nova defeated Ortigia 16:14, with five goals from both Jacob Mercep and Jerko Penava.
De Akker and Canottieri played a close match in Naples. The visitors from Bologna won all three points, winning 13:12. Bragantini scored a winner with 49 seconds left on the clock.
Visitors recorded a 13:12 victory in an encounter between Salerno and Iren Genova Quinto, too. The visiting team led for most of the match. Quinto built a 3-goal lead in the first half (8:5) and held back Salernoβs comeback attempts.
