There were three close matches in the 4th round of the Hungarian League, and two games were decided only in penalty shootouts.
Honved welcomed Szeged in the big derby of the day, with both teams entering the match unbeaten. The hosts opened the game quite well, building an early 5:1 lead. However, Szeged recovered from the bad start and started chasing Honved. The visitors finally equalized in the 26th minute – 10:10. Honved replied with three goals, building a solid 13:10 lead with 03:21 minutes remaining. The hosts entered the final minute with a 14:11 advantage. Szeged scored twice in its last two attacks, but it was too late. Honved saved all three points with a 14:13 victory. Leftie Lazar Vickovic scored four goals for Honved, and Attila Peto followed him with four goals for Szeged.
Szolnok remains unbeaten, but it barely avoided a defeat to Kaposvar, which had no points before this game. Kaposvar, the visiting team, built an 8:6 advantage in the first half. Szolnok was almost always behind throughout the third and fourth periods. The hosts equalized twice, at 8:8 (18th minute) and at 11:11 (30th minute). There were no further goals in regular time after Szolnok’s second equalizer. The hosts secured two points after a long penalty shootout – 20:19. Krasznai (Szolnok) and Dory (Kaposvar) scored five goals each.
Eger took two points in Debrecen, defeating DVSE in a penalty shootout. After several turns, each team scored 10 goals in 32 minutes. Eger won 14:13 in a penalty shootout. Radli scored seven goals for Eger, and Patrik Macsi five for DVSE.
Ferencvaros ran over UVSE 23:7 with four goals from Gergo Fekete.
Djurdjic and Dala contributed three goals each in Vasas’s 12:9 win over Miskolc. Vasas secured the victory with a dominant 8:2 first half.
BVSE and OSC secured comfortable victories over Szentes and KSI, respectively.
