In the final minutes of the game, Mladost maintained better focus and made fewer mistakes than Radnicki, ultimately earning the victory that lifted them from the bottom of Group A.
Although it was a clash between two powerful teams, not all of the star players participated. Radnicki’s captain, Nikola Jaksic, is sidelined for at least another month due to an injury, and the visitors’ goalkeeper, Radoslav Filipovic, also did not play.
During the first quarter, Mladost took a one-goal lead four times (at 1, 3, 4, and 5) and almost maintained a slim advantage before the second period. Ante Vukicevic scored to make it 5:4 with 17 seconds left in the quarter. However, Radnicki was awarded a penalty shot in the final second, and Vlachopoulos converted from the 5-meter line to level the score at 5:5.
Mladost earned a 2-goal lead in the first 2:03 minutes of the second period. Vukicevic converted a double man-up, and Vrlic added an action goal to make it 7:5. However, the hosts went scoreless for the rest of the half while Radnicki surged ahead with a 3:0 run. Luka Bukic scored during Mladost’s first possession of the third period from a 6-on-4 situation and soon added an action goal, putting the hosts back in front at 9:8. Radnicki managed to equalize at 9:9. Mladost went on to build a 2-goal advantage midway through the period, leading 11:9 and 12:10. Yet, Radnicki leveled the score again at 12:12. The Serbian champion had a couple of opportunities to regain the lead, but Mladost’s goalkeeper, Ivan Marcelic, was up to the task. In the dying seconds of the quarter, Vukicevic fired from distance, making it 13:12.
In the fourth period, the teams traded goals, with Radnicki equalizing at 13:13, 14:14, and 15:15. Mladost responded each time. With two minutes left without one of the best game-changers in the world, Andrija Prlainovic, because of the third personal foul. Radnicki trailed 14:15 at that moment. Mladost failed to capitalize on their man-up opportunity. Radnicki launched a counterattack, which Angelos Vlachopoulos finished, leveling the score at 15:15.
Mladost then forced another man-up situation during their next possession, and Luka Bukic converted it for his fifth goal, giving Mladost the lead once again. A series of exclusions followed, but the visitors wasted their last man-up chance and paid for it. With seven seconds remaining, Josip Vrlic found the net after Vukicevic delivered him an assist, securing a victory for Mladost.
Standings: 1. Olympiacos 6, 2. Mladost 3, 3. Radnicki 3, 4. Vasas 0.

Ferencvaros’ defense did not perform as well as expected this evening, but the title-holders’ goal scorers, led by Stylianos Argropoulos, demonstrated their high quality and Brescia was unable to upset the Hungarians.
Ferencvaros needed 05:02 minutes to earn a 5:0 lead. That great opening set the tone for the match, even though the visitors didn’t dominate throughout. Brescia made a lot of comeback attempts. It played well after the poor start, but didn’t have a chance to tie the score, as Ferencvaros regained its rhythm quickly after Brescia endangered the visitors’ lead. After five straight goals from Ferencvaros, Brescia produced a 3:0 run to close the gap to 3:5. The Hungarians responded with two goals (8:4) and controlled the match to enter the second half leading 10:7.

GROUP D
Barceloneta – Marseille 11:12 (2:3, 2:2, 2:4, 5:3)

Marseille: Nagy 5, Bouet 2, Larumbe 1, Crousillat 1, Vernoux 1, Drasovic 1, Kalogeropoulos 1.
Marseille had not defeated Barceloneta since 2013, but tonight, the French changed that in a game in which they led for most of the time, successfully fending off Barceloneta’s late comeback attempt.
Both teams showcased strong defensive play, and there were no goals until the 5th minute, when Munarriz scored, giving Barceloneta a 1:0 lead (the hosts’ only lead in the game). The French responded with two goals of their own. Munarriz scored again for the hosts, leveling the score. Five seconds before the end of the first period, Adam Nagy converted a man-up opportunity, putting Marseille ahead 3:2 at the first break. In their first possession of the second period, Nagy extended Marseille’s lead. The goalkeepers, Aguirre (Barceloneta) and Tesanovic (Marseille), then took center stage during a period of stout defending. In the 14th minute, Vince Vigvari ended Barceloneta’s 8-minute scoreless stretch. Seven seconds before halftime, Alberto Munarriz found the net for the third time, leveling the score again. But just as in the first period, Marseille managed to close the quarter with a late goal, as Bouet beat the buzzer to make it 5:4.

Barceloneta managed to catch up. Bustos leveled the score at 11:11 with a close-range shot with just 1:23 left. Immediately after, French superstar Thomas Vernoux scored with an action goal, which turned out to be the final score, sealing a significant victory for Marseille.

Waspo Hannover achieved its first victory in the European cups after 23 months. However, for most of the game, it seemed that the Germans’ winless streak would continue.
Sabadell gained control of the game midway through the first period. Early in the second period, the Spaniards had established a 4-goal lead, making the score 7-3. Hannover reduced the deficit to 6:8 by the end of the first half. Sabadell maintained its advantage for a while, largely thanks to Federico Panerai’s outstanding performance.
