Honved convincingly defeated Szolnok, 15:8, in the big match of the Hungarian League Round 7.
A few days after suffering a home defeat to Barcelona in the Euro Cup, Szolnok couldn’t offer strong resistance to Honved, which has played very well since the beginning of the season. Szolnok took an opening lead in its first possession, but Honved, the home team in this match, responded strongly. The hosts went on an 8:1 run, jumping to 8:2 late into the second quarter. At halftime, it stood 9:3. Honved earned a nine-goal lead in the fourth period (13:4 and 14:5), but Szolnok narrowed the gap. Peter Sugar scored three goals for Honved, Moskov, Vadovics and Vickovic added two each. Maxim Cseh netted three for Szolnok.
Last week, Vasas narrowly avoided a defeat against Kaposvar, securing a 17:16 win. In the 7th round, Vasas faced a more challenging opponent in an away match against 6th-placed Szeged and earned a slim victory again. Szeged held a 10:8 lead late into the third period. Fortunately for the visitors, they managed to take control in time. Between the 24th and 29th minutes, they scored four unanswered goals, earning a 2-goal lead for the first time, with a score of 12:10. In the remainder of the match, Szeged could only add a consolation goal. Soma Lakatos and Tamas Gyarfas each scored three goals to help Vasas secure a 12:11 victory.
Stylianos Argyropoulos scored six goals to lead Ferencvaros to a 22:9 victory over Kaposvar.
Eger had to dig deep to beat Miskolc, which is still without points. Eger recorded a 17:14 win.
