Barceloneta is the only unbeaten team after the 7th round of the Spanish League.
Barceloneta and Mataro, both with perfect 6–0 records before the 7th competition day, met this weekend.
Mataro managed to keep pace with Barceloneta only in the opening minutes, equaling the score at 2:2. After that, Barceloneta went on a 4:0 run, establishing a 6:2 lead. Mataro reduced the deficit to 4:6, but Barceloneta didn’t let the visitors come closer and secured a convincing 14:7 victory. Unai Biel and Biel Gomilla both scored three goals for the winning team.
The other derby of this round – an encounter between the Spanish representatives in the Euro Cup, Terrassa hosted Barcelona, turned into a high-scoring affair. Terrassa, the home team, started strong, leading 7:4 after the first quarter. Barcelona took the lead for the first time just four seconds before halftime when Velkov scored to make it 12:11. Barcelona maintained control for the next 16 minutes, ultimately winning 22:16. Mart van der Weijden contributed five goals to Barcelona’s victory, while Nikolas Paul and Pol Prat each added four goals. Lars ten Broek and Ignasi Bargallo each scored three goals for Terrassa.
Sabadell showed no mercy to Catalunya and reached the double-digit margin. Sergi Cabanas contributed four goals to a 19:9 victory.
The most exciting match of the round took place in Tenerife. Mediterrani defeated Tenerife after a penalty shootout, 23:22 (15:15).
