The draw for the Main Round of the 2019/20 Champions League was staged today in Barcelona.
Twelve clubs, which have wild cards for the Main Round, were split into two groups. A total of 16 teams will take part in the Main Round. After the 3rd qualification round, four clubs will join the 12 clubs which are directly qualified.
Barceloneta’s superstars Felippe Perrone and Dani Lopez, who won the silver medal with Spain at the World Championships in Gwangju, assisted the LEN officials during the draw. The two „handled“ the balls into the pots.
Their club Barceloneta was drawn into the Group A. The Spaniards will face Olympiacos, Jadran Herceg Novi, Szolnok, Spandau 04, Jug and two clubs that will come from qualifications.
European champion Ferencvaros (FTC Telekom Hungary) will play in Group B. LEN Euro Cup winner Marseille, Italian giant Pro Recco, Mladost Zagreb, Waspo Hannover and Dinamo Tbilisi are also in Group B. In this group, there will be just three available tickets for the Final Eight. Pro Recco, as the host of the F8, is automatically qualified for the final tournament.
Dinamo and Marseille will debut in the Main Round.
