European and Hungarian champion Ferencvaros was too strong for a young team of the UVSE, which is coached by Tibor Benedek, the former head coach of Hungary.After 3:3, Ferencvaros scored 7 goals in a row and jumped to an unattainable 10:3 lead. The top scorers were Mark Kallay, Nikola Jaksic and Szilard Jansik (3 goals each). Hungary and Ferencvaros captain Denes Varga, who missed the match against Szeged on Wednesday, recovered from an injury, that he suffered at the World Championships in Gwangju (broken finger). He joined the squad and netted two goals.
Szeged stunned Szolnok in the opening minutes with a 2:0 lead. Szolnok responded with a 4:0 rush, for a 4:2 advantage early in the second period. Szeged didn’t surrender. The visitors trailed only 4:5 in the middle of the second quarter. The former European champion produced a new series of four consecutive goals and made a 5-goal gap (9:5) in the 20th minute. The home side controlled the match in the remaining time and posted a 12:8 win. Bence Batori, Jozef Szatmari and Radomir Drasovic led the winning team with 3 goals each.
Miskolc, which will play in the Euro Cup next weekend, needed a lot of time to break PVSK Pecs. The third period was crucial for the outcome. In the middle of this quarter, the difference between the sides was just a goal (6:5 for Miskolc). By the end of the quarter, the hosts netted three goals, went 9:5 up and there was no way back for PVSK. Miskolc’s Italian Edoardo Manzi topped the scorers’ list (5 goals).

OSC opened the match against Kaposvar with 6 unanswered goals. The Budapest-based side had a 6:0 advantage in the 11th minute and recorded an easy 12:6 victory.
Eger hosted Vasas. The visitors scored the first goal in the match, but Eger responded with four in a row and went 4:1 up in the 7th minute. In the second period, Eger had a 4-goal advantage (6:2, 7:3). Vasas cut the deficit early in the third period (5:7). That was followed by Eger’s 3:0 series. The hosts went 10:5 up late in the 3rd period and everything was decided.
Honved was the only visiting team which didn’t come home empty-handed today. Honved travelled to Szomathelyi where it faced AVUS. It was an even contest until the middle of the last quarter. It stood 8:8 with 04:03 to go. Honved then netted three goals in a row to jump to an 11:8 lead and secured all three points.
BVSC didn’t leave decision too late in the match against Szentes. At halftime, BVSC led 8:3 and maintained the difference in the second half. The final score was 12:7.
