Favourites Ferencvaros, Szolnok, OSC and Eger recorded away victories in the 4th round of the Hungarian Championship, but the highlight of the round was the Budapest derby between Honved and Vasas. Honved water polo players suffered their first loss in this season, as Vasas took the points with a 13:11 win, after a lot of thrills.

European champion Ferencvaros visited Pecs to face PVSK. The hosts kept up with the favourites for a while. Ferencvaros had only a one-goal lead at halftime (5:4), but the visitors did damage in the second half and recorded a convincing 14:6 victory.
Just like Ferencvaros, Szolnok secured an away win after the middle break. Szolnok played against Tatabanya. Before the third quarter, the score was 5:5. Szolnok, led by Gavril Subotic (4 goals), broke the rival in the second half for an 11:8 win.
After three straight losses, Szeged collected first points, by beating Debrecen (10:7).

The Budapest derby between two former European champions Vasas and Honved was the most interesting match of the round. The visiting team Honved had an excellent start and rushed to a 6:2 lead early in the second quarter. Then Vasas produced a magnificent 7:0 series and turned around the deficit into a 9:6 lead in the middle of the fourth. Honved managed to come back and levelled the score after two minutes of play in the last period (10:10). Vasas had the last laugh. Midway through the fourth quarter, the hosts scored two goals in a span of 38 seconds for 12:10 and maintained the difference until the last buzzer (13:11).
The group leader OSC did a clean job in Szentes and beat the hosts by 9 goals (15:6). Kaposvar defeated BVSC (11:9) for the first win in the season. Eger found it easy to took points against AVUS (14:6).
