The highlight of the 3rd round of the Spanish League was an encounter between Mediterrani and Mataro. Mediterrani, the visiting team, celebrated a victory after a big battle. Favourites Terrassa, Sabadell and Barcelona beat their respective rivals with big margins. Reigning champion Barceloneta had a bye weekend.

Mediterrani led for most of the time of the match against Mataro. Still, the encounter had a thrilling finish, as Mataro didn’t surrender until the end. Mediterrani had a 6:3 lead in the third period, but the hosts cut the deficit twice in the fourth quarter (5:6 and 6:7), but they didn’t manage to equalise. Donat Galeev gave Mediterrani a new 2-goal advantage (8:6) in the 29th minute. After that, there were no goals and the visitors took all three points.
Barcelona water polo players had a slow start against last-placed Navarra (it was 2:2 after the first quarter). The favourites regrouped themselves during the first break and the match turned into a one-sided contest (17:6).
After a successful debut in the Champions League (victory over Dinamo Tbilisi), Terrassa easily defeated Tenerife (18:8).
Sabadell visited Madrid to face Real Canoe. The home team gained a 2:1 lead deep into the first quarter, but Sabadell took control quickly after that. The visitors rushed to a 5:2 lead. They maintained a 3-goal gap by halftime (7:4). In the second half, Sabadell extended the margin of its win to 8 (17:5).
