The first part of the Hungarian championship has been finished this weekend. The matches of the 9th round were played. The league will be continued in February, after the European Championships in Budapest.

Szolnok and Ferencvaros recorded easy away wins. Szolnok, led by Gavril Subotic, defeated Szeged 13:7. Titleholder Ferencvaros, playing without Denes Varga, achieved a win with the same result – 13:7 against UVSE.
PVSK Pecs and Miskolc shared the points – 8:8. The visitors from Miskolc had a nice 8:4 lead deep into the third quarter. PVSK dominated in the last nine minutes and secured a point with a 4:0 rush. Gal scored an equalizer 32 seconds from the end

OSC did a clean job in Kaposvar and beat the home team with a 13-goal difference – 23:10.
The other three matches in this group were very exciting.
Eger defeated Vasas in a hard-fought battle in Budapest. Eger was leading for most of the time, while it finally broke the opponent in the last quarter when the visitors earned a 13:7 lead (two and a half minutes before the end). Vasas scored four goals in the remaining time to reduce the gap.
Szentes narrowly defeated BVSC – 11:10, thanks to a spectacular comeback. Before the last quarter, BVSC had a 3-goal advantage (10:7). The hosts scored four unanswered goals in the final eight minutes and collected all three points.
AVUS recorded the first win in the season, by beating Honved in Budapest. The hosts jumped to an early 5:1 lead, but AVUS started climbing back step-by-step. The visitors went ahead, for the first time in the middle of the last period (10:9). Honved equalized (11:11), but AVUS’s Turnai beat the buzzer. He scored a winning goal in the last second.
