The most interesting games of Day 12 in the Spanish national championship were a clash of Mediterrani and Mataro and an encounter between Sabadell and Real Canoe.

Mataro got off to a good start in the match against Mediterrani. The visitors had a 2-goal lead in the early phase of the match (2:0, 4:2, 5:3, 7:5). Before the final quarter, they had an 8:7 advantage. In the 26th minute, the home team leveled the score (8:8). Midway through the 4th period, Mataro regained a two-goal lead (10:8), but the hosts saved the point. Mediterrani’s best scorer Benjamin Dutch Stevenson netted his 6th goal in the match 82 seconds before the final buzzer for the final score – 10:10.
Sabadell’s water polo players didn’t let Real Canoe make a surprise, but they had to fight hard to earn three points. Real Canoe had a 2:1 advantage in the middle of the first period. Then Sabadell took control and dominated. The hosts built a 5:2 lead by the middle break. After a balanced third period, Sabadell entered the final quarter with a 3-goal advantage (8:5). In the middle of the fourth period, Sabadell was 9:6 up. Real didn’t give in, but it didn’t equalize. Their 8th goal came too late – three seconds before the end.
Terrassa, Barcelona and Sant Andreu beat underdogs with ease.
