The last, 14th round of the first half of the Hungarian Championship saw the clash between reigning and former European champion. Ferencvaros defeated Szolnok 11:10 and kept 1st position in Group A.
After the 14th round, the top four teams from each of the two groups advance to the group for the title (1st – 8th place). The rest of the teams will play in the relegation group (9th – 16th place).
The teams which qualified for the top 8 group are: Ferencvaros, Szolnok, Miskolc and UVSE (Group A), OSC, Eger, Honved (Group B). The 8th participant will be Szentes or BVSC. Szentes is in the 4th place in Group B, with a point more, but also with a match played more than BVSC.

Szolnok was leading for most of the time of the match against Ferencvaros. Two minutes before the last break, Szolnok earned a 2-goal lead for the first time (8:6). Ferencvaros, guided by Denes Varga,started climbing back and earned a 10:9 advantage with 01:46 minutes to go. Radomir Drasovic equalized 68 seconds before the end (10:10), but Aaron Younger beat the buzzer. HE found the net in the last second of the match for Ferencvaros’ 11:10 victory.
Before the match, Ferencvaros’ captain Denes Varga, who was the best scorer with 5 goals, was given the Total Player Award, as the best player in the world in 2019.
UVSE convincingly defeated Szeged 14:8 and secured 4th place in the group.

The derby OSC – Eger is postponed until further notice, as well as the matches of the 13th round BVSC – OSC and Honved – Eger, because of the coronavirus.
Szentes defeated AVUS 12:6 and probably secured 4th place, since BVSC needs a miracle in the match against OSC to climb into 4th position.
