On the last day of the month, Total Waterpolo prepared a new summary of the European water polo transfers in 2020.
There were more big transfers in May than in June, but the current month brought several very interesting arrivals and departures.
Many of the clubs already confirmed their teams for the next season, but several players of high class are still free agents.
Hungary

Filip Filipovic’s arrival to Szolnok has been the most important transfer news in the Hungarian water polo this summer.
Ferencvaros, the Hungarian and European champion, made just a few changes in the roster.
Vasas, Honved, Miskolc, renovated their teams.
Eger, after a lot of departures, still hasn’t presented a team for the next season. In our previous summary of the transfers, we published that Montenegrin Nikola Murisic left Eger. That information was correct a month ago. But, meanwhile, Eger invited Murisic to come back and he accepted the offer.

Italy
Maro Jokovic moves to AN Brescia
Brescia is “the winner” of the transfer market in Italy. The second-best Italian club managed to bring several excellent players.
The biggest transfers in Italy in Juny were Maro Jokovic’s moving from Olympiacos to Brescia and Aaron Younger’s arrival to Pro Recco (he came from Ferencvaros).
In May, several players moved from Brescia to Pro Recco and in the reverse direction. It’s possible that this “exchange of players” hasn’t been completed. Brescia negotiates with Vincenzo Renzuto Iodice, who left Pro Recco.
Our summary includes the transfers in all 14 clubs which played in the 2020 Italian League. Despite there were no promotion and relegation, the composition of the league will be changed. Canottieri Naples withdrew from the competition and it will play in the Serie A2. The Federation still hasn’t announced which team will replace Canottieri.

The playoffs in the Croatian League started last week. Jug, Mladost, Jadran Split and Solaris advanced to the semifinals, but all the teams have already begun to compose the teams for the next season.
Mladost Zagreb was often in the headlines in June. The seven-time European champion hasn’t brought any reinforcement, but the club managed to keep several essential players and renewed contract with head coach Zoran Bajic.
Several players left Jadran Split. Nothing happened in Jug regarding the transfers this month.

France
Players from ex-Yugoslav countries “have occupied” France. Many Serbs, Croats, and Montenegrins have arrived in French clubs this summer. France, the host of the 2024 Olympic Games, wants to build up a strong league, and the French are doing that by bringing the players from the three respectable water polo schools.
The biggest star of the transfer market in France is, still, Andrija Prlainovic, who moved to Marseille late in April, but after him, many of his compatriots, the Croats, and the Montenegrins came to France.
Last week, Serb Stefan Zivojinovic, the best goalkeeper of the 2014 World Cup, joined Noisy-le-Sec after leaving Olympiacos. He will be coached by Stefan Ciric. Besides the two, another Serb came to Noisy – Viktor Rasovic, the 2018 European champion (he departed Szolnok).
Interestingly, several goalkeepers from the ex-Yugoslav countries moved to France. Montenegro’s goalkeeper
Dejan Lazovic is one of the biggest Marseille’s reinforcement. Croat Mate Anic moved from Jadran Split to Reims. Former goalkeeper of the junior team of Serbia Milan Vitorovic came to Douai (from Vojvodina).
It should be mentioned that Nikolaos Gardikas, who won the gold with Greece at the 2017 World Championships, signed for Nice (he comes from Palaio Faliro).

Serbia
Serbian clubs have been far from the European top in the last few years, but things are going better.
Several players returned to the country. Novi Beograd 011, the club that is coached by Vladimir Vujasinovic, brought four players. In addition, Milos Cuk, the Olympic champion, is, according to unofficial information, close to moving to Novi Beograd. Cuk is currently in Croatia. He is finishing the season with Mladost.
Milos Milicic returned to Radnicki Kragujevac from Hungary. Several Serbian players, who are free agents at the moment, are in talks with clubs in their native country.
Partizan, one of the most successful water polo clubs in history, is still struggling to survive because of financial troubles. Three players have left the club so far. Besides, the club’s management said that a 23-years-old Dutchman Bilal Gbadamassi could leave Partizan. But, Gbadamassi, a center-forward who played for the national team, can go if he (or his new club) pays Partizan a compensation of 30.000 euros. The Dutchman has played for Partizan since 2018.
