Former European champion Szolnok its 2020/21 Hungarian League campaign with a win against Szentes 16:9.
That was the match of the 5th round. Szolnok’s first four games had to be postponed because of the coronavirus cases. After the 5th round, OSC remains the only team that still hasn’t played a league match this season.
UVSE, which upset Vasas (9:7) last week, produced a new surprise today. The young team of UVSE defeated Honved and kept a perfect 4-0 record (in meantime, UVSE beat Debrecen 13:9 in the postponed match of Day 1).
Ferencvaros defeated BVSC harder than it was expected (13:9) in the last match of the weekend, played on Sunday.

Szolnok earned a 6:1 lead by the middle of the second quarter and controlled the match against Szentes until the end. The visiting team managed to reduce the deficit before the halftime (4:7), but Szolnok’s win wasn’t in danger. The hosts stretched the margin to seven (16:9).
Daniel Angyal was the best scorer with 4 goals. Serbia captain Filip Filipovic made his debut in the Hungarian League and scored two goals for Szolnok.
This is Filipovic’s second goal in the match.

UVSE became the first team that has collected 12 points in this season of the Hungarian League. Today, UVSE entered the match against Honved excellently. UVSE had a 4:1 lead after the opening eight minutes. Still, Honved started climbing. In the third quarter, the hosts reduced the gap (4:5 and 5:6). In the middle of the last quarter, they equalized (6:6) with four and a half minutes remaining on the clock. But, UVSE responded with two goals and went 8:6 up. Before the last minute, Honved trailed 7:8. Vince Vigvari converted a penalty shot for a 9:7 lead 47 seconds from the final buzzer. After that, Honved managed to score just a consolation goal. Rolf Bencz (4 goals) and Vince Vigvari (3) led UVSE to the win.
Eger started slowly in the game against Debrecen. However, the hosts dominated after the middle break and, led by Baksa Benedek (6 goals) recorded a 17:10 victory.
Vasas led 6:1 at halftime of the game against KSI. The hosts opened the second half with a 3:0 series for 9:1, before KSI scored its 2nd goal. Still, it was impossible for KSI to come back.
PVSK defeated Tatabanya thanks to a last-gasp goal. PVSK’s Marcelli Koloszi scored a winner for 11:10 just 14 seconds before the end.
Ferencvaros needed a lot of time to break BVSC in the last match of the weekend. BVSC stunned Ferencvaros in the opening minutes. BVSC was leading throughout the first half and opened the second half with two goals to go 7:4 up. Then Ferencvaros finally found its rhythm. By the end of the third period, the reigning champion scored six goals in a row and entered the last period with a 10:7 lead. BVSC managed to reduce the gap twice in the last period (8:10 and 9:11), but „Fradi’s“ win wasn’t in danger.
