In the Dutch League, GZC Donk is doing good business. After two rounds the club from Gouda is at the top of both men and women league.
The men from Gouda gained a 17:13 victory over Waterpolo The Hague on Saturday. However, the team from The Hague did not give it easily. Just in the fourth quarter GZC Donk took the decisive distance. There were also many goals in Alphen aan den Rijn where fellow leader AZC beat PSV with 18:10. Andreas Miralis was the big man at AZC-side. The Greek scored eight times.
There were fewer goals in the match between Het Ravijn and Polar Bears, but the 6: 5 victory means the team from Nijverdal is also still unbeaten. It was close during the whole match. The decision was made one minute before the final whistle by a penalty. Emiel Wouters outwitted Polar Bears and National Team goalie Eelco Wagenaar from five meters. In Leiden, the difference was also minimal. Home team ZVL surprisingly lost against ZPB (8: 9). After a 2: 5 lead of the guests from Barendrecht, ZVL fought back nicely. Nevertheless, ZPB won. Wessel Schoenmaker scored the winning goal four minutes before the end.
In Utrecht, national champion UZSC played its first game of the season against fellow provincial ZPC Amersfoort. UZSC had a slow start, the visitors took a brutal 6:3 lead, but once warmed up, the home team was the better team. Lars Reuten shot ZPC Amersfoort to 11:10, but when Gies Wijnhoven passed the young Amersfoort goalkeeper Boyd Vermeulen with a handsome diagonal shot, the match was decided.
