OSC defeated UVSE 14:10 in the derby of the 11th round of the Hungarian League. OSC water polo players, the hosts in this match, found themselves 0:3 down in the second quarter. But they managed to come back and beat the Budapest-based rival in this very exciting match.
There was a lot of drama in the game KSI – Debrecen that was played in the indoor pool of the Alfred Hajos Aquatics Complex on Margaret Island. (Margitsziget). The visitors secured three points with a last-gasp goal.
Szolnok keeps a perfect record. It has achieved 11 wins in as many games.

Defenses dominated in the first eight minutes of the derby OSC – UVSE. The visiting team scored the opening goal in the first minute of the game, but after that, there were no goals for a while. UVSE opened the second quarter excellently with two goals for a 3:0 lead.
OSC finally got on the scoreboard in the 11th minute when Salamon converted a man-up for 1:3. This was a turning point. OSC took control. By the middle break, the hosts turned around the three-goal deficit to a 4:3 lead. The third period was quite balanced. UVSE managed to equalize twice (4:4 and 5:5), but OSC didn’t let them go ahead.
Early in the fourth period, Marton Toth gave OSC an 8:6 lead. Still, UVSE hasn’t surrender yet. The visitors equalized quickly (8:8). OSC responded with two goals (Manhercz and Csacsovszky) for 10:8. In the middle of the final quarter, UVSE cut the deficit once more (9:10). Then, OSC netted four unanswered goals within two minutes and a half for a 14:9 lead with 23 seconds remaining on the clock. UVSE’s Erik Molnar set the final score seven seconds before the final buzzer. Molnar, his teammate David Belenyesi and OSC’s Marton Toth were the best scorers. Each netted three goals.
Szolnok kept 1st place in the table with a convincing 18:7 victory over PVSK Pecs. Filip Filipovic, who scored four goals, led Szolnok to the 11th win in the season.
KSI Budapest hosted Debrecen in the “Tamas Széchy” indoor pool on Margaret Island. The visitors collected all three points thanks to a goal in the last second of the match.
Debrecen led 9:6 after the third period and built a 10:6 advantage in the 25th minute. But, KSI was able for a great comeback. The hosts scored five goals in a row and earned an 11:10 lead just 36 seconds before the end. Debrecen’s Levante Stefanidesz hit the back of the net from a penalty for 11:11, with 17 seconds remaining. In the last second, Stefanidesz scored an action goal and didn’t let KSI win the first point in the season. Debrecen celebrated a narrow and valuable 12:11 victory.
Kaposvar recorded the second win in the season, beating Miskolc easier than it was expected – 17:10.
The water polo weekend in Hungary was completed by an encounter between Eger and Honved on Sunday. Honved secured a win in the first half. The visitors entered the third period with a 10:4 lead, and early in the fourth increased the margin to seven (11:4). The hosts started climbing back, but the distance was too large. Baksa Benedek scored 6 goals for Eger. On the other side, an experienced Norbert Hosnyanszky, who arrived at Honved from Eger a few months ago, led Honved with four goals.
