2020/21 Spanish League
Day 6
Barceloneta – Sant Andreu 12:6 (5:1, 2:2, 4:2, 1:1)

In the middle of this week, Barceloneta recorded three wins at the “bubble” tournament in Budapest. Today, the former European champion played without several experienced players. Some of the key players, including Felipe Perrone, Dani Lopez, missed the match. But, the favorite had no problems to earn three points. Led by Olympic champion Milan Aleksic and an 18-year-old Biel Lara, Barceloneta, grabbed a 7:1 lead by the middle of the second quarter and maintained the difference until the end.
The encounter between Barceloneta and Sant Andreu was the only today’s game, and, probably, the last one in the Spanish League in 2020. (The seventh round is scheduled for January 26).
Barcelona in mourning
One more match was to be played today afternoon, Terrassa – Barcelona (Group A, Day 5). That game has been postponed due to a tragic accident, that happened on Thursday evening. Marti Estela Xucla, Barcelona’s third goalkeeper, lost his life in a traffic accident at the age of 28. The match has been postponed as a sign of mourning and respect for Xucla.
Marti Estela Xucla won the silver medal with the Spanish U20 team at the 2011 World Championships. Before coming to Barcelona, he played for Poble Nou and Mediterrani.
