AZC has once again proved to be one of the top title contenders in the Dutch Eredivisie. Ron van der Wild’s team forced Het Ravijn off the lead and has now taken the top position by themselves. By the way, ZV De Zaan and UZSC are placing a lot of pressure on the Alphen squad. They have one pointless, but they get a match credit as well.
It was thrilling in Alphen until late in the fourth period. AZC led for almost the entire match, but the margin of victory was rarely more than one goal. AZC turned on three minutes before the final whistle, and that proved to be the final blow. AZC went from a 10:9 to a 12:9 final score thanks to goals from Jacoppo Mandolini and Nathan de Zwaan. With ZPB, ZV De Zaan had less trouble. While the visitors took an early lead, ZV De Zaan gradually expanded their lead to 7:3 by halftime. The team of former national coach Johan Aantjes later doubled the score to 14:6 in the final. Polar Bears was defeated by UZSC. It was 12:8 in Utrecht. It took UZSC until the third period to pull away from the visitors. Benjamin Hoepelman and Gies Wijnhoven (2x) combined for a three-goal lead.
SVH was no problem for GZC Donk (16:9). SVH was able to stay close to GZC Donk until halfway through, but after that, the Gouda team was obviously the parent. In The Hague, Waterpolo Den Haag and ZPC Amersfoort met up. Last year, both teams were active at a lower level. With a score of 5:15, Amersfoort emerged victorious. After the first period, the score was already 2:7, and ZPC Amersfoort gradually increased their lead. With five goals, Lars Reuten was the most positive. With this win, the team has secured a place in the middle bracket. The points were split between PSV and BZC (8:8). BZC did not seem to have much going on in the first period, but PSV took the initiative in the second period and tied the score. Finally, ZVL beat De Ham with ease (10:21). Especially in the last period, ZVL was unleashed. It meant the first victory of the team from Leiden.

The women’s results were significantly higher. The imbalance in strength between the top four and the rest is becoming more evident in the stands. GZC Donk had a bye. Polar Bears won 17: 8 against De Ham. Against ZVL-1886, De Zaan was victorious. And UZSC didn’t leave much of SWOL 1894. UZSC-shooter Nerida Drewes performed admirably. She outwitted SWOL keeper Daphne Glazenburg no less than fourteen times! Het Ravijn was the best of the rest, defeating PSV 7:14. Although the score was still equal after the first period (3:3), there was little tension left after that.
