Due to the Easter weekend, there were only three games in the Dutch Eredivisie. Despite the limited number of matches, the top-3 of the women came into action.
In Utrecht, UZSC and ZV De Zaan played against each other. It turned out to be a top match. The teams were very well matched. Ultimately, UZSC won with the smallest difference: 8:7. The team of coach Joachim de Ruijsscher deserved the victory the most when you look at the interim scores. UZSC was never behind at any time. In the first period, the team came to 2:0 thanks to goals from Nerida Drewes and Dagmar Genee, but Yara Galjé and Lieke Rogge put ZV De Zaan on the same level in the same period. The same picture in the second period. UZSC ran out (2x Sam Jutte), but ZV De Zaan stayed on again thanks to Lieke Rogge. In the third period, Nerida Drewes created another gap of two goals, but then it was Jessie van der Kamp who kept ZV De Zaan in the match. In the last period, Danique Lauritsen and Anne van Rossum ensured the next margin of two goals (8:6). The last goal by Yara Galjé did not endanger the Utrecht victory after that.
A lot less tension at the other women’s match. GZC Donk crushed PSV (7:27). Funny enough, the most tension was in the last period. Back then, with a 5:7 score, it still looked somewhat like a match. But before that, GZC Donk had already shown the home team all corners of the pool.
In the men’s competition only one match. UZSC easily defeated SVH and thus regained the lead from ZV De Zaan. However, UZSC has played one game more than the team from Zaandam, so the differences at the top of the rankings remain minimal. To be honest, SVH was not involved at all against the 2019 national champion. The big difference in quality must be confronting for the team from Rotterdam because they have moved a lot on the transfer market in recent years. For example, the former international Milos Filipovic and current internationals Jesse Nispeling and Milan de Koff joined the SVH-team. But Petar Ivosevic’s squad doesn’t seem to have really found form yet. SVH was already 6:1 behind against UZSC after the first period. UZSC simply extended its lead in the remaining periods. Benjamin Hoepelman and Sebastian Hessels were the biggest teasing ghosts for SVH. They both scored four times and stopped the counter at 20:4.
