The regular season in Hungary is coming to an end.
Most of the matches of the last, 30th round have been played today.
Szolnok cruised to a win over KSI (17:9) and cemented 1st place in the league, which means that it will face BVSC in the semifinals.
The real action is on Sunday. The regular season will be closed by a derby OSC – Ferencvaros. These two teams will meet again in the semifinals. Tomorrow’s encounter will be decisive in the battle for 2nd place. But, besides the 2nd position, at stake are three extremely valuable points. The points won in the mutual encounters will be carried to the semifinals. OSC has an advantage at the moment, because it has already won three points against Ferencvaros (16:12 victory in the first half of the season).
Szolnok will start with 4, BVSC with one point in the second semifinal duel. A team that wins 7 points in the semifinal series will qualify for the final. So, Szolnok can finish the series in the first game against BVSC on Wednesday.

OSC – Ferencvaros
Szolnok played without Filip Filipovic and Radomir Drasovic, but KSI wasn’t a high hurdle for the leader. By the middle of the second quarter, Szolnok earned an 8:0 lead. After that, the hosts slowed down and saved energy for the playoffs.
Other clubs had nothing to win or lose in the last round, so most of them played relaxed, and that kind of approach produced some interesting games.
A very exciting game was played in Eger, where Eger hosted Szeged. Eighteen seconds before the end of the second quarter, Szeged had a 4-goal lead (7:4). But, then Eger produced a 4:0 rush for an 8:7 advantage. Szeged equalized – 8:8. However, Eger built a 10:8 lead early in the fourth and kept the win thanks to a defensive play.
The game in Eger was played in front of a few hundred spectators. In accordance with the Government’s decision, Eger opened the gates for the first time in 2021. Eger invited fans who have government-issued immunity cards to come to the stands. People who have received at least one vaccine dose and those who have recovered from COVID-19 can get the immunity cards.
Szentes allowed immunity cardholders to enter the pool, but the home fans didn’t celebrate. Vasas recorded a 16:7 victory.
