Michael Bodegas, a French with Italian citizenship, returned to the homeland.
Bodegas will play for the best French club Marseille in the next season. Last week, in our summary of the transfer market, we mentioned that Marseille was preparing a “big bomb” for the end of the transfer market. And “the bomb exploded”.
Marseille confirmed Bodegas’ arrival by a post on its Facebook page. The club officially welcomed Bodegas, who returns to the club after eight years.
He played for Marseille until 2013. Then, he spent two seasons in Brescia (2013-2015). In 2015, Bodegas moved to Pro Recco (2015-2019), while he played for Barceloneta from 2019 to 2021.
In 2015, Italy granted Bodegas citizenship, and he debuted for “Settebello”. Playing for Italy, the experienced center-forward won bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games and the world title in Gwangju two years ago.
He won many trophies in national competitions with Marseille, Pro Recco, and Barceloneta. In 2015, Bodegas clinched the LEN Super Cup playing for Pro Recco.
Before Bodegas, only one player has arrived at Marseille – Alexandre Bouet (Douai), and two left the club -Bogdan Djurdjic (Crvena Zvezda), Alexandre Camarasa (retired). Anyway, head coach Milos Scepanovic will guide an excellent squad since Andrija Prlainovic, Ugo Crousillat, Dejan Lazovic, Uros Cuckovic, and many other players stayed in Marseille.
