The 2021/22 Hungarian Cup has started this week.
The season began with the eighth finals. Most of the first games in this stage have been played today, but some teams already finished their duels in the round of 16.
Eger and Szolnok are already in the quarterfinals. Vasas, Ferencvaros, OSC, and Szeged earned significant advantages in the 1st leg.

Most of the remaining return matches will be played on Saturday and Sunday, while the game Szentes – Miskolc has been scheduled for October.
The season in the Hungarian Cup was opened by encounters between Eger and Kanisza, which plays in the Second League. Eger proved much better than the rival in both games.
Hungarian champion Szolnok didn’t have a demanding task in the first stage. It recorded two convincing wins over Kaposvar in two days (yesterday and today) and joined Eger in the quarterfinals.
The derby of the eighth-finals are encounters between Budapest-based rivals, Honved and Vasas. The first duel was played in Honved’s pool, this evening. The match was interesting until the middle break. Vasas led 3:2 after the first quarter. Still, Honved equalized in the 10th minute (3:3). In the following minutes, both defenses worked well. Just 33 seconds before the middle break, Randjelovic gave Vasas a 4:3 lead. The visitors, led by Balasz Eredlyi (5 goals), ruled the field in the second half and cruised to a nine-goal win.
Ferencvaros, the Hungarian Cup winner in the last season, showed no mercy to PVSK in Pecs in the first leg – 22:8. Denes Varga and young Vendel Vigvari scored almost half of the goals of the winning team. Each found the net five times.
OSC defeated UVSE with ease. Szeged was too strong for HVSC
