Croatian Olympian Lovre Milos decided to stop playing water polo, although he is just 27 years old.
For most of his career, Milos played for Mladost Zagreb. He left Mladost in 2013 and went to the USA for his studies. He played for the college teams of UCLA and the University of California in Irvine (he was one of UC Irvine’s best scorers). After graduating, Milos returned to Mladost.
He debuted for Croatia in 2018, when Croatia finished 3rd at the European Championships. In 2019, he won bronze at the 2019 World Championships, and silver medals in the World League and in the Europa Cup.
After the end of the previous season, Milos left Mladost, like many other experienced players. The Croatian champion faced mass departures of players because of financial troubles. He had offers from some Croatian and foreign clubs. There were rumors about his arrival at Jug Dubrovnik.
Still, Milos decided to retire. His last water polo game was the fifth-place match at the Tokyo Olympics.
“I did not make the decision suddenly. It is a combination of a lot of factors. I’m tired of water polo, and I have some other priorities at the moment. For a while, my head hasn’t been 100 percent in water polo. I think I decided well. “, Milos told Croatian daily Sportske Novosti.
Gojkovic continues to guide Montenegro
The Water Polo Federation of Montenegro announced that the General Board had decided to renew a contract with the national team’s head coach Vladimir Gojkovic. He will continue to guide Montenegro at least until the end of the Paris Olympics. He signed a new three-year contract.

Gojkovic won several medals at major competitions playing for Serbia and Montenegro and Montenegro. He was appointed as Montenegro head coach in 2015.
