With the Women’s Euro League very much in focus, the Spanish Division de Honor only had two games this weekend whereby the Saints – Sant Andreu and Sant Feliu, both recorded victories.
In the game between Sant Andreu and Barceloneta, the result was never in doubt – with the visitors taking a big lead into the last quarter. The goalscorers for Sant Andreu were Ariadna Ruiz Barril with a hat-trick and braces for Noelia Perez, Marit Van der Weijden, Marina Cordobes, Denise Mammolito and Raquel Prieto. Sant Andreu are now up to fifth in the league, while their opponents, Barceloneta, are still without a win in the league.
In the second game, Sant Feliu eventually ran out winners away in the west of Madrid against Boadilla. The game was a tight affair really in the most part, as Sant Feliu only had a single goal lead going into last. But finishes from Claudia Perez, Raquel Maldonado and Mireia Gomez in the the last period secured the win for Feliu.
Despite the defeat, Maria del Mar Rodriguez’s side are still above Sant Feliu, who sit in ninth, however Boadilla have played an extra game.
