European champion Pro Recco and LEN Euro Cup Telimar Palermo semifinalist met in the derby of the Italian Championships 9th round.

After the first quarter of the derby game, it seemed that Telimar might cause headaches to Pro Recco. The European champion grabbed an early 2:0. Telimar got on the scoreboard in the 5th minute (Irving for 1:2). Nobody could score in the last three minutes of the first period, but the match turned into a one-sided contest quickly. Recco scored six unanswered goals in the second period and added one in the 17th minute to make an immense eight-goal difference (9:1) and secure the victory.
Salerno couldn’t surprise Brescia. The title-holder had a 4:1 advantage after the first quarter. The following two periods saw a balanced battle, but Salerno didn’t have energy for the final eight minutes.
Trieste needed just 10 minutes to earn a 6:0 lead against Posillipo. After the first quarter, it was 3:0. Trieste added three goals in the first two minutes of the second quarter and sank all Posillipo’s hopes. Japanese Yusuke Inaba was the best scorer (5 goals).
Savona did a clean job in Catania. By the middle of the second quarter, the visitors went to 7:2 and maintained the difference.
Milano Metanopoli beat Anzio after a great comeback. Anzio dominated the first eight minutes and built a 3:0 lead. Milano was able to come back. In the 23rd minute, Milano went ahead (7:6). The hosts stretched the margin to 9:6 early in the fourth. Two late goals by Anzio changed nothing.
Ortigia started slowly against Roma. The team from the capital of Italy won the first quarter (3:2), but Ortigia took control after the first break, and cruised to a big victory.
