BVSC beat Vasas 11:8 in the big match of the Hungarian Championship Day 17.
Two Budapest derbies were on the schedule for this weekend, but the game Ferencvaros – Honved has been postponed.

The derby encounter between Vasas and BVSC was played today. After the goalless first quarter, BVSC’s Csaba Meszaros broke the deadlock with an action goal in the 9th minute for 1:0. Shortly after, the hosts doubled their advantage. BVSC dictated the pace and jumped to a 4:1 lead before the middle break. Vasas took control in the second half and leveled at 6:6 in the 25th minute. But, BVSC, led by Miklos Csapo responded with a 3:0 run and earned a 9:6 lead (29th minute). The hosts kept the distance until the end – 11:8. With this victory, BVSC took revenge for a 7:10 loss to Vasas in the first half of the regular season.
This match changed nothing in the standings, but after the win in the derby, 5th-placed BVSC is just two points behind 4th-placed Vasas.
Debrecen upset Eger to record its second win in the season. Eger led for most of the time. The visitors built a 3:0 lead by the middle of the first quarter. Early in the second period, Eger stretched the margin to four (6:2). Debrecen started coming back and managed to cut the deficit to one (6:7) shortly before the end of the third quarter. In the 25th minute, Eger doubled its advantage, with a power-play goal (8:6). But, the visitors couldn’t find the net in the final seven minutes, while Debrecen scored four goals. Just 50 seconds from the end, Bela Torok gave Debrecen a lead for the first time – 9:8. Eger had no response and Debrecen took all three points.
OSC Budapest made no mistake in the match against UVSE (20:7). Miskolc beat Szeged (11:8), while Kaposvar earned new three points with a 14:12 victory over PVSK.

Earlier this week, Ferencvaros and Szolnok faced off in the postponed derby of the 12th round. Ferencvaros opened the match well. It led 6:3 at halftime. Szolnok came back and cut the deficit midway through the third period (5:6). Ferencvaros responded with 3:0 series and went to 9:5. Szolnok couldn’t come back anymore.
