After the postponement of the World Championships in Fukuoka, many national and international water polo calendars for 2022 will suffer changes.
The calendar of the Champions League will be revised, too. According to the latest information, an agreement on rescheduling the last four rounds (11th, 12th, 13th and 14th) has been reached. The decision regarding the dates of the Final Eight in Belgrade hasn’t been made yet. The tournament may be held two weeks earlier than it was scheduled.
The ninth round will be played on February 8/9, as it was planned at the beginning of the season. The tenth round will not be moved either. It’s scheduled for February 22/23.
Revised calendar
Day 11: March 29/30 (initially scheduled for March 18/19)
Day 12: April 19/20 (initially scheduled for March 29/30)
Day 13: May 10/11 (initially scheduled for June 07/08)
Day 14: May 24/25 (initially scheduled for June 14/15)
(In the second half of the regular season, the matches on Group B are played a day before Group A)
According to the LEN Calendar, the Final Eight is scheduled for June 30 – July 2. These dates are still one of the options. The other possibility is moving the F8 to the third weekend of June (16 – 18).
It’s expected that LEN will confirm and announce new dates soon.
The calendar of the LEN Euro Cup won’t be changed. The return leg of the semifinals is on February 9. The final matches will be played on March 5 and 26.
