A big stunt in the Dutch League. Leader AZC lost against Waterpolo Den Haag.
In Alphen aan den Rijn, Waterpolo Den Haag took the full loot by leaving the leader with 9-10 bewildered. AZC started the game well. Jesse Nispeling and Lars Reuten made it 2-0 for the home team, but then the visitors turned the game. Five goals in a row from The Hague resulted in a 2-5 score at the beginning of the second period. Koen Heiden in particular was ‘on fire’. In total he scored six times. In the third period, AZC came back to 9-9. But in the fourth period, Koen Heiden scored the winning goal.
The teams behind AZC partly benefited from the Alphen-slip. ZV De Zaan, Polar Bears and UZSC all played a draw. De Zaan lost a 7-9 lead against GZC Donk. Mart van der Weijden put GZC Donk at 13-13 in the very last second.
Polar Bears got no further than 8-8 against ZPC Amersfoort. In the first period (0-3) there was nithing to worry for the young team from Ede, but then the ‘Max van der Werve-show’ started. He personally scored five times in a row and took his team to 5-3. The visitors came back to 5-6, but then ZPC Amersfoort took the lead again. Lars ten Broek eventually took care of the 8-8.
UZSC drew against Het Ravijn: 16-16. Het Ravijn was especially happy with this, as the team from Nijverdal was still 16-13 behind four minutes before the end. Hugo Wouters, Jorn Muller and Lars Gottemaker caught up just in time.
Just like Waterpolo Den Haag, PSV and SVH were close to a stunt. PSV could smell the victory against ZPB after a strong third period. In the last period, however, the team from Eindhoven completely fell through the ice. A 8-10 lead was lost and ZPB won 13-11. In Leiden ZVL-1886 barely kept the points against SVH in-house. Nine minutes before the end Stan van Ruiten allowed the home team to breathe a sigh of relief with his 10-9.
Women
Leader ZV De Zaan did not run into problems against PSV. Wouter Veer’s team ran to 9-2 in the third period. In the last period, PSV got a bit more upbeat, but that was too late to create any significant danger.
Polar Bears continues to follow in the footsteps of ZV De Zaan. On Saturday, the team from Ede won the away match against Het Ravijn: 11-14. On Sunday, Polar Bears won again. Then De Ham was defeated (14-8). De Ham had already lost to GZC Donk on Saturday: 9-8.
Number 3 UZSC won with difficulty from ZVL-1886. It took a while before UZSC was up and running. After a 4-1 deficit, UZSC slowly crept closer and at the end of the third period, Esther Scheij gave UZSC the lead for the first time (6-7). In the fourth period, Robin Jutte made it 8-6.
